Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Fighters Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season are included.

The Warrior Group Revealed

Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to begin their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.

Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the events of the third episode show why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, attacking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The traitor then settled his debts and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each member has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
  • The adventurer knows Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous place.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could assist the group enter places they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.

This leaves them little choice but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

According to episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Seekers and Planners groups.

Audiences can look forward to finding out which players will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
